nothing gold can stay away🔑
the issue playlist, cool nyc happenings, creative gigs, and The White Lotus (STAY GOLD FR)
If you are still thinking about the White Lotus’s best character, our golden gem… same. (Spoiler warning if you somehow haven’t seen the finale).
The collective viewership of The White Lotus picked up on Chelsea’s engraved dog tag that read “Stay Gold” and caught the reference to the Outsiders’ “Stay gold, ponyboy…” line. But the show’s costume designer also points out the nod to the Robert Frost poem, Nothing Gold Can Stay. It’s one I’d been thinking about in the early spring, anyhow, as I’ve been sitting with the transience…
Nothing Gold Can Stay
By Robert FrostNature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
What Frost fails to mention, though, is that just as nothing gold can stay, can nothing gold stay forever away. The sun peaks up again to color the sky each morning, and a healthy tree will bud its early spring flowers again, and “I will follow you into the next life and the next…”. Pain may win a battle, but hope has a way of always coming back around. This one is for our golden girl, and for everyone who loves her love.

The Issue 2 Playlist is the heart and soul of the zine– and you can get it and share it for free.
This playlist is made up completely of NYC-based artists and was built completely off of recommendations from other NYC artists. There is so much awesome stuff in there that I never would’ve happened upon without hearing about it from other artists on the scene which continues to warm my heart.
A note for your listening: This playlist is very eclectic. I suggest you hit shuffle and keep an open heart until you fall in love with something. There is a little something for anyone to discover in there.
